Store email with cookie

It would be nice if customers didn't have to enter their email address every time they enter a case. It could be stored using a cookie on their machine, or something like that, for the last 6 months or so.
We use fogbugz on the cheap, by only buying licenses for developers. Our 'testers' do not have licenses, yet they enter cases as frequently as the developers do, and having to re-enter their email address every time is a nuisance.

What if they just emailed the case to FogBugz?

We use a support mailbox "support@example.com" that is only for FB's use. Anyone that needs to submit a case can do so be sending email to that mailbox.

To update a case, just send another email and put "case nnn" in the subject.

Ahh, I just remembered:

Another option is to get one of the form-fill plugins for FireFox that are running around (you _are_ using FireFox, right? <g> )

I use Autofill ( http://autofill.mozdev.org/ ) that, while dated, works like a champ.

I guess the mailbox thing would be ok, but it adds yet more details that people need to learn. A web form is definitely the best, since people know where they are, they know where to type in what, and they can pick the product from a list, without having to remember prodx_support@mycompany.com, etc.

I'm not going to try and convince a bunch of engineers to run firefox. Firefox really is geekspeek to most people, and I have even found people who have a decided aversion to it because their geek IT managers have been trying to shove it down their throats for months. The whole point of web based applications is that they run on the browser, not on the firefox.

Cookies are the answer. Why doesn't fog creek do it?

We'll look into the possibility of adding cookies to the public submission form.  A lot of users have privacy issues with cookies (we often have a hard time getting licensed FogBugz users to accept cookies), so I'm not sure it's necessarily a good solution.

Eric- thanks for the reply. Perhaps consider a server side option that enables a 'remember my email' checkbox on the anonymous issue submittal form.
Now Afrikaans is not my native language, but it is the most widely understood language in South Africa, and there is a colloquial meaning of the word 'cookie' that would make most of our customers laugh. They neither know what a browser cookie is, nor do they care.

Thanks again for the reply though, and I'll just keep my fingers crossed for the next release, and bring it up again if I still feel the need.
