TOC in Wiki?

Can you create a Contents list at the top of a FogBugz Wiki entry? - rather like this example in Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(links)

There is no automatic TOC creation in the wiki at the moment, but this is flirting with #1 on our feature request list for the wiki.  Rest assured it'll be high on our priority list once we ship the PHP/Unix version of FogBugz 6.

If it helps, I usually create my table of contents somewhat automatically by following these steps whenever I want to create a new wiki article: go to my "TOC" wiki page, edit it, and insert a link to the new article.  This lets you create your new wiki article while simultaneously creating your "TOC" link.

Thanks for that Ben.  That is what I'm doing now, but
what I would like to do is create mini-TOCs within a wiki entry, so if I have a long entry I can quickly link down from the top of the entry - like using an internal anchor in a web page.

Gotcha.  That's flirting for #2 or #3 on our list of wiki features ;).  It's on its way as well, also currently being delayed only by the PHP release.

This would be a big deal for us to.

I am currently working on a quickie access script that would connect to the DB and build a TOC for a given Wiki. It still requires re-running the script each time the Wiki is updated, but it it works well I might convert it to a SQL trigger so there is no manual interaction required.

FWIW, most wiki's seem to lack the auto-TOC functionality. This was a key criteria for us when we evaluated wiki's.

I think the problem is that most wikis don't have the linear type of structure that lends itself to TOCs.

Having said that, I have had some success with CategoryTree in MediaWiki
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:CategoryTree

I had to create a root category for the tree, and if all other articles and categories have a category (so they have a place in the TOC) it will create a dynamic TOC.

You can use the Uncategorized Categories and Uncategorized Pages special pages to find any pages that won't appear in the TOC.

Just to clarify, that process is for creating a TOC in Mediawiki, not FogBugz... (discussing TOCs in wikis in general)

I wound up creating my own script/wiki template to build a dynamic TOC for Fogbugz Wikis. If anyone is interested I can forward the scripts. They are rough, but they work without modifying the original Fogbugz code. If there is enough Interest I can post them here or e-mail them to anyone who needs them.

There ought to be a place in this forum to post tweaks to the FogBugz community.
