A forum for technical support discussion related to Fogbugz.
I'd like to start using hosted FogBUGZ until it's available for linux so it can be installed here. We're hoping to import all of our old bug report history into FB once we have it up and running on our server. In anticipation of that, I'd like to have cases I enter into the hosted FB to start at some higher number (maybe 1000) so that we can cleanly import our history and maintain the intuitive case number chronology. Is there a way to do this?
Not currently but it's something we're making provisions for and should be available in an upcoming version via the API.
OK. Given that, will we be able to munge the case ids when we migrate to a self-hosted install? Keep in mind that until that migration, we won't be using the svn integration, so each case will be an island (i.e. no references from commit messages, and probably no wiki references either).
Right now there isn't a good way to do this unfortunately. There are still a lot of links to cases throughout the schema, so if you changed the bug numbers there would be other places they needed to change.
I've never gone through all the steps but I think with a bunch of queries and our schema it should work.
