Ok, this restriction sucks.
We deal with things like:
GUI,GPS,GSM,ECT,IAT,ECU,ECM,DTA,ETC,MAP,MAF,EGR,PID,
CAT,TPS,O2S,FRP,VIN,etc,etc....

I need to be able to search on at least three character
combos.

How do I make this happen?

There is no limit either on the minimum or maximum number characters in a search term. In fact if you search this forum for GUI GPS GSM ECT. It matches this discussion.

As an FYI, in old version of FogBugz we used to rely on the crappy full text search that the databases (SQL Server, MySQL ) offered.  But our brilliant devs pulled in an awesome search indexer so we handle all of this ourselves now and allow you to do some really amazing things with search (see show:unread for example).

You may have been looking at an ancient post when you saw this 3 character restriction (which would have been caused by the databases poor full text indexing).

I agree that the FB6 search is far superior to the search in FB4 (which I think is the same in FB5). We search 3 digit keywords all the time. Works great.
