Fix For Default

We just upgraded to version 4 and in version 3 the Fix For defaulted to Undecided (which we like); now it defaults to Data Conversion (which is the first on our list alphabetically, but it always was). Is there a way to make the Fix For: default to Undecided?

Hi Pam-

Two questions:

Is "Data Conversion" is a FixFor for all projects?

Is it possible that someone on your side added Javascript to make the FixFor dropdown default to Undecided on your 3.0 install?

To your first question, yes it is able to be assigned as a Fix For for all projects, but so is Undecided.

To your second question, no one did change anything in the old version to make it default to Undecided.

Not sure why this was defaulting to Undecided on your old install, but I will try to find out.

In the meantime, if this is a requirement, you can find the code snippet that looks like this at line 987 of dlg.asp and change the zeros to ones:

<% If Not bAllowWildcard Then %>
    if (!selectedSomething && opts[0] != null)
    {
        opts[0].selected = true;
    }
<% End If %>

Note that this will break if you ever have less than two global fixfors.

I think perhaps that someone recently added the Data Conversion as a global release for your FogBugz install... We did this the same in 3.0 and 4.0.  Here's how it works:

First, we show all the global releases in the list sorted by date first, and then if the dates match, alphabetically.
Next, we show all the releases for this project, sorted by dates first, and then if the dates match, alphabetically.

Then we default to the first item in the list.  So if Undecided is your only global release, it is guaranteed to come up first.

Another way you can guarantee this is just rename "Undecided" to " Undecided" (note space as a prefix).

I'll make sure this works right in the next release.
