Attachments and FileUpload directory

Are attachments stored in the database now? I see that there is nothing in the fileuploads directory and that there is now an attachments table with Binary data

In our case the file uploads dir was a mounted dynamic disk so we could expand if needed. If the file uploads dir is no longer used I'd like to umount this drive.

Correct, 4.0 stores them in the database.

Which is good, I think... because you don't have to worry about duplicate names. Right?

Duplicate names wasn't a problem before either because files were stored in a folder keyed by the bug event id (which is unique).  Now it is just easier if you have to move your fogbugz installation...

Does this mean that the file uploads directory is not needed at all?

No.  The file must be written to disk first, so the FileUploads directory is still necessary as a staging area for the uploaded file.
