how to control session timeouts (rember me doesn't work?)

Our users are constantly being timed out of working
with Fogbugz.  The site settings page has "Remember me
allowed" set, but it doesn't seem to work.  It doesn't
appear to be a browser cookie setting (I can see two cookies
set by fogbugz).

We are mostly using firefox.

Is there anything we should be looking at to either understand why "Remember me" doesn't work or change the
timeout period?

Does your server have a _ or a - in its name?

Yes, it has a dash (-) character in its name.

There is a bug either in IIS that it can't save cookies if the name has a '-' in it.  Can you add a new name to it, an alias perhaps?

Do you have a reference to a technical description of this bug?  We can (and will) change the name of the server, but names with dash and/or underscore are common here and I would like to understand the implications of that.

You can also google for "underscore IIS cookie".

Most documents say dashes '-' are ok, but we've found through practice that IIS can also treat the '-' the same way it treats the '_' character.

underscore is not a permitted character in DNS host names.  (cf:  http://www.camtp.uni-mb.si/books/Internet-Book/DNS_NameFormat.html )

The problem with - and _ is that IIS encodes those entities into either %xx or &entity; marks, which the browser doesn't unwind into the desired character code.
