create related case quickly (Feature Request)

It would be nice to see a new button to quickly create a case related to the case you are currently viewing.

As a tech lead, I often create a "master" case for feature additions and large bug fixes and then I create "sub" cases which I distribute to my fellow developers.  This allows me to track all the cases at a high level while still dividing work efficiently.  It works quite well but the creation of a related case is a minor inconvenience.

I have bookmarklets, and a bookmarklet generator that I'm working on to do this.  Can you contact me at customer-service@fogcreek.com to become a tester of this generator?

Bookmarklets is a very cool workaround for missing features (I use one to spawn related cases myself) and great for short-term use... but totally insufficient as a complete long term solution.

One big problem is when I'm at a different computer or working with a different browser, I suddenly don't have my needed functionality!!!

Another is that bookmarklets are too geeky and difficult for others in the organization that might need this functionality.

It's also just "weird" to have buttons that should be in a web application appear elsewhere in the browser's chrome.

Any important functionality really needs to be available within the application, one way or another. Perhaps as an advanced option that not everyone sees (to keep things clean) or a user-customizable toolbar where we pick which functions are there...

Relying on bookmarklet functionality only works for power users and only in some circumstances... as long as FB relies on workarounds like this it will always appear as "crippled" software to some users and potential users.

I'm not trying to knock you for developing the bookmarklets - by all means... but please also push to have important functionality ported into the application where it belongs eventually.

All fair criticisms. I've been stung by working from home and not having my precious, precious bookmarklets.  I'm not selling them as the complete solution, but as a solid workaround.

Plug-ins should fill this gap more suitably than bookmarklets.
